Clair is a financial technology company with a key feature that offers earned wage access (EWA) before payday without fees or interest. Clair integrates with existing payroll and workforce management platforms to minimize disruption and provide EWA as an employee benefit. With Clair, users can access a portion of their earned wages shortly after ending a shift.
Enhancing User Experience
At Clair, I focused on improving the user experience by integrating new features that streamlined financial interactions. A key project involved incorporating Plaid, enabling users to seamlessly connect their bank accounts for effortless transfers to and from their Clair account. Before design began, I meticulously reviewed Plaid's API and design documentation to ensure a smooth and intuitive user flow. I also actively collaborated with the development team, sharing my insights and proposing enhancements to the bank accounts page that extended beyond the Plaid integration.
Streamlining Onboarding at Clair
To enhance the user onboarding experience, I was tasked with adding a feature allowing users to activate their Clair debit card during account creation, provided they already possessed one. This improvement was driven by the growing practice of our teams distributing debit cards at on-site events, addressing a clear need identified during new user onboarding.
Empowering Users through Transparency
A crucial aspect of my work at Clair involved educating users about their lending limits. Clair's innovative approach to earned wage access often led to confusion regarding borrowing amounts. To address this, I spearheaded the design of clear visual and conditional messaging to inform users about their available balance and current lending status, empowering them to make informed financial decisions.
Elevating Financial Clarity at Clair
While developing Clair's lending limit education system, I recognized the opportunity to enhance the app's existing spending and savings ledger. By conducting thorough research on leading financial apps and competitors, I crafted a new design that significantly improved the user experience, promoting transparency and informed financial management.
